Requirements:

This application required precisely cutting and feeding wide metal foil from a roll form into precise pieces.

Our Solution:

AZCO Corp. designed and manufactured a custom-cut-to length assembly with a heavy-duty unwind assembly to precisely cut pieces of metal foil from a roll form.

  • The roll of material is loaded onto the heavy duty unwind.
  • Safety chucks ensure the material is held in place.
  • From the unwind, material travels under a dancer assembly.
  • A set of precision ground rollers pulls the material into the cut-to-length station.
  • The rollers are turned by a high accuracy, low maintenance indexing motor.
  • Pressure between the rollers can be manually adjusted.
  • The operator can lift the idler roller using a toggle switch for easy setup of a new web.
  • An internal guide directs the material from the drive rollers into the knife assembly.
  • D2 heat treated tool steel blades cut the material into precise pieces.
  • Material falls down a safety enclosed exit chute.
  • The unwind assembly is mounted on an aluminum structure.
  • Material is supported and held in place by a 393mm [15.5”] pneumatic airshaft.
  • An AC motor and drive will power the airshaft.
  • An electric sensor will monitor the presence of the material loop and turn the motor on when the loop is not present.
  • Unit will feed and cut material with an accuracy of +/- of .38mm [0.012 in] or 0.1%.
  • Unit requirements: Power requirement: 110VAC 50-60Hz [220VAC available upon request] | Air requirement: 2.75 – 6bar [40-90 PSI] 2.2 SCFM
