Requirements:

This application required precisely cutting and splicing elastic material in a roll form for a continuous process.

Material: Rolls of elastic material with a width of 12mm and 1.1mm.

Our Solution:

AZCO Corp. designed and manufactured a custom heated cut-to-length station with a dual unwind assembly, splice table and dancer accumulator.

  • The roll of material is placed on a motorized unwind.
  • The unit is a cantilevered design for quick and easy loading of material.
  • The flange can be removed and locked in place without the use of tools.
  • A dancer assembly controls the tension of the material.
  • The material travels under a dancer assembly.
  • Low product sensors monitor the material webbing.
  • An ultrasonic sensor monitors the roll diameter.
  • A three-color light tower shows the unit’s status.
  • The material travels through a splice station and into the dancer accumulator.
  • Operator can splice the end of one roll of material to the beginning of a new one.
  • From the dancer accumulator, a set of high precision ground drive rollers pull the material into the heated cut-to-length station.
  • The cut-to-length station cuts material into precise pieces.
  • Once the pieces are cut, they will drop out of an exit chute.
  • The control panel will have an EtherNet/IP Scanner to establish a connection with the customer.
  • Unit has an optional diverter’s gate with a color eye sensor to reject pieces automatically.
  • Unit requires 110VAC 50-60Hz.
  • All aluminum components have a clear anodized finish.
