Requirements:
This unit required precisely cutting and unwinding rolls of label material (stickers) into 2.125” pieces.
Material: Rolls of label material with a width of 54mm [2.125”] and thickness of .18mm [.007”]
Our Solution:
AZCO Corp. designed and manufactured a custom cut-to-length station with an unwind station, dancer accumulator and light tower to precisely cut label material from a roll form.
- Material is loaded onto the motorized unwind.
- The cantilevered design allows for quick and easy loading.
- Unwind station is powered by an AC variable speed motor and drive.
- The drive motor maintains a consistent loop of material.
- The rocker switch allows the unit to change direction for easy setup and versatility.
- From the unwind station, material travels over an idler roller and into the dancer accumulator.
- The stand-alone dancer accumulator allows for additional stability and control of the material.
- A rising dancer arm feeds and controls the tension of material into the cut-to-length station.
- Material is then pulled into the cut-to-length station by a set of precision ground rollers.
- Top idler roller is pneumatically pre-loaded which includes a pneumatic cylinder, pressure regulator, air switch and all necessary hosing and hardware for an easier setup.
- Pressure between rollers can be manually adjusted.
- Operator can lift the idler roller using a toggle switch for easy setup of new rolls.
- Rollers are turned by a high accuracy, low maintenance indexing motor.
- An internal guide directs the material from the drive rollers and into the knife assembly.
- An eye registration will locate the register mark and signal the unit to cycle.
- Register eye will be adjustable across the width of material.
- Multiple eye options are available including spot, reflective, flat beam and color.
- Knife then cuts material into precise pieces.
- Cut pieces then falls down a short exit chute.
- A jam sensor will automatically shut the unit down when no product is sensed exiting the knife assembly, indicating an internal jam.
- A low product sensor with light tower will visually indicate when the roll reaches a predetermined diameter.
- The unit has a color touch screen for easy setup and operation.
- All components are mounted on an adjustable equipment stand.
