Blade setup: GC & GH units

GENERAL MAINTENANCE FOR GC & GH UNITS

DISCONNECT AIR SUPPLY WHEN SERVICING THE UNIT!

BLADE REPLACING INSTRUCTIONS

Remove low head socket cap screws (#16), replace blades (#04 & #05) and reinstall low head socket cap screws. Follow the adjustments listed below for readjusting.

BLADE SETTING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Loosen the low head socket cap screws (#16) on the movable blade bracket (#03).

2. Close the movable blade (#04) down over the stationary blade (#05) at this time.

3. Starting on the side with the blade shoe (#06), and remove low head socket cap screws (#16). Tighten the low head socket cap screws until the blade just makes contact with the stationary blade. OVER TIGHTENING WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT.

4. Continue down the knife one screw at a time, using thread locker on the threads and tightening the low head socket cap screws until the blade makes contact with the stationary blade.

5. As you continue down the knife assembly the movable blade will have to be closed all the way so that it is in contact with the stationary blade.

ADJUSTING THE CYLINDER TO CUT ACROSS THE ENTIRE LENGTH

1. With the movable blade all the way closed, the cutting edge opposite the blade shoe should overhang the stationary blade by 1.5mm (1/16").

2. If this is not the case, unscrew the cylinder rods equally until it does.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

1. If the knife remains at its home (up) position or does not return to the up position:

a) Check that at least 40 PSI air is supplied.

b) Check that there are no obstructions in the way of the knife assembly.

c) Remove the movable blade and check for smooth operation of the blade bracket. If a problem exists, determine if it is a cylinder or bearing problem. If operation is smooth, replace blades per instructions.

2. If the knife does not cut product properly:

a) Check that there are no obstructions in the way of the knife assembly.

b) Increase air pressure to cut tougher materials.

c) Resharpen or replace blades.

3. If the knife does not cut product, movable blade deflects and bends material:

a) Slightly tighten the movable blade bolts across blade.
