    Requirements

    Copper and aluminum foil needed to be slit to size. The copper was .0005” thick and the aluminum foil was .001” thick. A 3” inside dimension roll weighed 35 lbs.

    Our Solution

    • The roll of material is placed on the unwind stand.
    • Unwind will be cantilever design and construction
    • Unit is powered by a AC variable speed motor and drive
    • Drive motor maintains a consistent loop of material
    • The dancer arm will feed back the motor control creating consistent tension
    • Rocker switch allows the unit to change direction for easy setup and versatility
    • From the unwind shaft the material goes over an idler roller.
    • A dancer assembly controlls the unwind motor drive.
    • The shear cut slitter station slits the foil to size.
    • Urethane drive rollers feed the web thru the slitter station
    • The material goes into a set of guide rollers, which separate each strip of material.
    • A differential airshaft holdx each new core in place.
    • The advantage of the differential air shaft permitts each strip to be rewound to a constant tension.

    This application required cutting a .005" aluminum product on a continuous basis.

    Our Solution

    • AZCO designed a rotary shear cutter with a 630mm cut capacity, designed for a heavy duty application.
    • The unit had heavy duty steel side plates which were electroless nickel plated.
    • The blades cutting cylinder with a D2 shear cut blade cut against a hardened, rigid tool steel anvil.
    • The unit was designed to be mounted easily into the application with an output shaft designed to couple up to their present drive system.
    • The unit had dow pins for exact pin location if they needed to change out the module and then bolt it into place.
    • The rotary cutting cylinder had external, heavy duty, high load bearings which can easily be replaced or serviced without disassembling the entire unit.

    Requirements

    This application required accurately feeding a paper-based product with a lot of dots on it to a length based on the position of the dots, slit it, cut it into small pieces, and take it away to go into the next process.

    Our Solution

    • AZCO Corp. had a shear cut slitter that slit the material to the proper width.
    • Segmented rollers indexed the material into the modular knife assembly which was designed with a very compact area.
    • It shear cut the material in between the dots.
    • A set of pre-loaded takeaway rollers fed out the material from the knife into the next station.
    • The entire unit was modular in design and built around our slitter station shear cut knife assembly.
    • We added a small takeaway section.
    • The unit was ready to be mounted into the customer’s unit.
    • It had an output shaft designed to integrate with their machine control package.
